It’s been a Sixty-Special Summer for our customer and his 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty-Special. It all began in early June when we trailered the Ebony Black beauty to the most prestigious Cadillac event of the year, the 2025 Cadillac & LaSalle Club’s annual Grand National Meet in Murfreesboro, TN. At the Saturday evening awards banquet, we were thrilled to learn that the product of our world-class restoration expertise earned not only a coveted Senior Crown award but also a Best of Show trophy. We later learned that the Sixty-special earned a perfect 100 point score on the judges’ tabulation sheet. A feat made more noteworthy considering the category’s head judge literally wrote the authenticity manual for the class. Read more: “Perfection by CPR” The very next week, we were off to Grosse Pointe Shores, MI for the prestigious EyesOn Design car show. What makes this event particularly special is that the judges are professional automobile designers, including some retired designers who worked for manufacturers back in the 1960s & 1970s. The judging team awarded the vehicle a Best in Class award in the Cubism: Geometric & Planer Class. The final major award of the summer came in late July at the AACA Grand National Meet in Dayton, OH. Yes, a whole lot of miles were covered this summer. It was among the historical aircraft at the National Museum of the United States Air Force where the 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty-Special earned its Grand National, Junior award, which now makes the car eligible to move on to compete for the esteemed Senior designation next year.
